Cheese production has a long tradition in the Gailtal Valley. The taste of this centuries-old cheese speciality, the Gailtal Valley alpine cheese PDO (protected designation of origin), which has won several international awards, is unique. Golden-yellow delight made with a lot of dedication.

Only the alpine pastures of the 13 member-strong Genuss Region Gailtaler Almkäse PDO association produce the cheese during the summer months.
Semi-hard and aromatic in taste, the cheese is perfect for the Almjause (platter with alpine specialities).
