Gailtal Valley and bacon - they simply belong together. Due to the traditional production, the special regional production conditions such as climate and feeding, the bacon has such special characteristics that this product is even protected throughout the EU and may not be called "Gailtaler Speck PDO" anywhere else. In addition, the bacon producers also offer numerous other meat specialities. Carinthian homemade sausages, salami or "Verhackerte" - as the savoury bacon spread is called in the region - are particularly popular. In addition to specialities made from beef and pork, products made from game, lamb and horse as well as fresh meat are also available. It's worth trying!
