The hiking tour to the St. Steben Church, just above Förolach and Köstendorf is a wonderful experience. We ,,conquer'' one of the most beautiful view points in the Gailtal Valley Alps via an easy to manage ascent of 386 metres.
The church „Zum heiligen Stephan Papst“ in St. Steben was first mentioned in a document around 1466 and is to this day still used for mass and is the destination of countless hiking enthusiasts every year.
Total walking time: Förolach – St. Steben Church and back around 2 ½ hours.

Tuesday
The gorge of the Garnitzenbach stream has plenty of waterfalls and is completely accessible via alpine climbing facilities and bridges. The trail has been divided into 4 sections and it takes around 2 ½ hours altogether to reach the end of the gorge.
The total length of the Garnitzenklamm Gorge is, starting at the entrance of the gorge (630 m) up to the end of the gorge (Klause 1.125 m), around 4 km and the difference in altitude is around 500 m.
The Garnitzenklamm Gorge was formed through a geological fault in the mountains on one hand and through the melting glaciers of the last ice age on the other – the gorge is now around 10.000 years old.

We meet at the valley terminus Gartnerkofel and take the chair lift to the upper terminus. From there we start the ascent to the Gartnerkofel (2.195 m) in direction Kühweger Thörl (1.914m). Plenty of serpentines lead from there through rocky terrain all the way to the Gartnerkofel.
A sheer endless view across the entire Gailtal Valley, the Upper Tauern and the Carnic Alps awaits once the summit has been reached. Even the Großglockner (3.797 m) – Austria's highest mountain – can be seen on a clear day and in the right wheather conditions.The descent leads along the hiking trail 412 to the Watschiger Alm – from there on towards the Tröglplatz and then, using the Piccolo Express, back to the Millennium Express.

This may surprise you but even you have the sixth sense. You will receive interesting facts about the power of water and earth radiation during the introduction on how to hold the dowsing rod correctly. During this leisurely tour, we will visit places of energy, the healing well and share information about cultural values. Recharge your batteries whilst discovering the „Nature Trail“, visiting the „Tree of Energy“ and during „Water Treading“. Stop for refreshment and a bit of rest is at the natural swimming pool Radnig.

Wednesday
Climb one of the most popular and most beautiful mountain in the Nassfeld area – the 2240 m high Rosskofel – with our Carinthian mountain guide Erich. A ,,reward'' awaits you once arrived at the summit – a magnificient panoramic view across all the mountain ranges of Carinthia as well as the Julian Alps in Slovenia and Italy. On a clear day, you may even be able to see the Upper Adriatic Sea.

The tour leads from the upper terminus Madritsche along the new adventure trail „Aqua Trail“ and dowhill to the reservoir. The southern shores of the reservoir are the starting point of an interesting and exciting crossing of rocky terrain, consisting of colossal rocks. The tour continues up the impressive vertical north face on the western side of the Rosskofel. This is followed by taking a turn towards east at the foot of the mountain, from where – across two terrain levels and amidst lush flower meadows - the summit is reached within half an hour.
The descent leads in westerly direction to the Rudnigsattel, where you will come across the the Carnic Alpine Path 403, which will take you all the way back to the starting point of the tour.

Enjoy an amazing hiking tour on one of our many Geotrails. Norbert and Georg will share some interesting facts about the geology of the Alps in our area. Set off on a journey to discover some fossils!
Meeting point: 10.15 am lower terminus Gartnerkofel chair lift
From there, we take the lift to the upper terminus. Norbert will give a short introduction and we will then start the tour all along the Carnic Alpine Path 403 up to the Garnitzenalm (1.915 m) – the tour continues towards the Kronalm where we start our search for FOSSILS!
We will then cross the border to Italy and continue the tour from the Ofenalm (1.618 m) to the Auernig Alm (1.609 m) and will then return back to the Sonnenalpe Nassfeld.

The small ,,Hamlet'' on the Egger Alm has been serviced for hundreds of years – first documented in 1865 – and cheesemaking has been the main activity here ever since. 49 huts and one church, the „Heimkehrerkirche“ church, are situated on this alpine pasture.
Enjoy a beautiful hiking tour from the Egger Alm to the Poludnig. The ascent leads across the west ridge and the descent via the Poludnig Alm. The tour continues then towards the Dellacher Alm and then back again to the starting point.
Refreshment points along the tour are the Egger Alm, Dellachr Alm and Poludnig Alm – where you also can sample and purchase the famous Gailtal Valley Alpine Cheese.
