The Mittagskofel is one of the lookout mountains of the Lesachtal and is also a worthwhile route in winter. The ascent from Niedergail leads over the alpine road and then across the alpine meadows of the Niedergail Alm up to the summit.

Runseck is certainly one of the most popular ski tours in the Lesach valley, partly because of the wonderful view from the summit, and partly because this ski route mostly runs through not too steep terrain.
