Zottachkopf (2046 m)

The small neighbor of the Trogkofel is also called the Torn Mountain because of its many rock towers, which is where its name comes from: Zottachkofel or Zottachkopf. And as the name suggests: the ascent leads variedly through meadows and rocky terrain to the local mountain of the Rattendorfer Alm.

Propozycja

A wonderful alpine vegetation can be observed. Every summer, a mountain mass is held at the Zottachkopf.

Wyposażenie

Good hiking boots are required.

Wskazówki

From the Rattendorfer Alm, follow trail 416 towards Rattendorfer Sattel as far as the "Zottachkofel" junction and follow the clear markings. Cross large boulders to a fork in the path and take the right-hand branch with easy climbing sections and rope protection. Pass bizarre rock formations to reach the summit, which offers an impressive view of the west face of the neighbouring Trogkofel, like a viewing platform with a magnificent panoramic view. There is enough space for a snack in the sheltered summit hollow.

Suitable for children aged 10 and over, who should be secured in places. A via ferrata set is not necessary.

The descent is southwards, approx. 160 metres in altitude, on path 403 heading W and via path 416 back to the alpine pasture.
