In addition to this geological highlight, the wide range of local rocks have their own exciting story to tell. This story has been overlooked for the last few decades, but has lost none of its relevance today. It is the history of a village community which was only able to prosper due to the favourable conditions in the area, for which geology provides the foundation. The locals were also able to make use of the rocks.

The geological conditions of the area were responsible for the development, affluence and cultural progress of the village. However, they also brought about setbacks, fear and horror when natural disasters such as mudflows struck this area. This dependence on nature lasted until the 1950s, when many of the local production processes previously performed within the village were outsourced and the distance between the village and the fundamentals of existence was substantially increased.
