Rosskofel (2240 m) from the Rudnigalm

The trail leads over ski slopes to the Rudnigsattel, where it meets the Carnic High Trail 403 and where old war positions can still be seen. The trail leads through boulder and rocky terrain under the impressive rock face to the flat summit. Several variants lead up the mountain, which is also home to numerous alpine climbing routes.
tour.Suggestion
From the Rosskofel you can see as far as the Adriatic Sea on a clear day.
tour.Equipment
Good hiking boots and mountain equipment are recommended.

Instrukce

A)Variant from the Rudnigalm: (information and map adapted to this tour!)
From the Rudnigalm (1620 m), we turn south and hike along trail 414 across alpine pastures above the large reservoir, past ski lifts to the Rudnigtörl (1945 m), which we reach in an hour. The traces of the First World War are still clearly recognisable on this path. From the Törl you have a beautiful view of the Carnic Pre-Alps and the mighty limestone massif of the Trogkofel. The Carnic High Trail 403 runs to the west, but we turn left and climb between large boulders, crossing mountain meadows again and again, on trail 414 to the summit of the Rosskofel (2240 m) in an hour. This is crowned by a bell erected by the Alpine clubs of Hermagor and Pontebba on the occasion of the 50th Nassfeldkirchtag in 1998.

B) From the Madritsche (1900 m)
We hike down the "aqua-trail" and further into the large basin below the Rosskofel. We first balance downhill over large boulders in the rockfall area - pay attention to the markings! - then we climb steeply towards Rudnigtörl. Mountain chives can be found in the rocks, which are characterised by karst phenomena. From Rudnigtörl to the summit as in variant A .

C) Enrico Contin via ferrata
Alternatively, you can ascend or descend via the easy "Enrico Contin" via ferrata. This A/B via ferrata leads to the saddle between the Winkelturm and Rosskofel. A marked path leads back to path no. 414.
