R3a Pressegger See Radweg

Hermagor the district town offers small, cosy localities for staying or a small shopping tour in the city centre would also be possible here. The turnoff to the family cycle path R3a can be found in the so-called "Burgermoos"! You cycle through the small villages of Obervellach, further along the northern reed belt of the Pressegger See and arrive in the villages of Pressegger See and Presseggen! In the village of Pressegger See, near the lido Hermagor, you can take a comfortable rest with the children, so that you can explore the "realm of the sea witch" - adventure playground at Pressegger See. For children who love a little action, you can visit the 1st Carinthian Adventure Park at Lake Pressegger See! Here our guests are offered action & bathing fun for "big and small". The "Panorama Restaurant "Seestube" with a wonderful view over the Pressegger See and the Carnic Alps provides for the physical well-being. In Presseggen you will find the church Presseggen, which is dedicated to St. Ruprecht. Here the cycle path leads along the railway line off the main road to Görtschach - once you have arrived here you can cool your feet a little in the cool "wet" of the Gail at the "Gailspitz". Now the family cycle path leads along the Gail river through meadows and fields back to Möderndorf.

Museum of local history SCHLOSS MÖDERNDORF

Möderndorf Castle reflects the history of the middle Gail valley. It is surrounded by agricultural buildings and stands out due to its cubic, three-storey construction. Several stylistic epochs can be recognized in the building fabric.

The name of the castle first appears in a document in 1331 in the parish bar of Hermagor.

Today Möderndorf Castle enjoys an excellent reputation as a regional museum of folk culture.

The building houses the collection of the Essl family from Hermagor, which is important in terms of folklore and cultural history. On four floors

numerous showpieces offer insights into significant developments in the respective eras. Particularly interesting exhibits are for example the

300 million year old seal tree from the Carnic Alps, the Luther Bible from 1541 and an original Upper Gail Valley Kesn with farming tools.

The castle is located in the immediate vicinity of the cycle path and is a special recommendation for pedal fans.

Around the historic building there is a lot of free space and greenery, so the complex offers an idyllic environment for relaxing breaks in a romantic atmosphere.
