KICK-OFF for the VIA Cultural Summer 2026

11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Literatura Mobil at the Town Hall Square Kötschach-Mauthen:
Library, meeting place, experience literature
5 p.m. Lecture by Dominik Srienc with a discussion about the cultural dimension of bilingualism in Carinthia. 
5:30 p.m. Taster session in Slovenian with the author, translator, and language trainer Daniela Kocmut: a creative mini-lesson for learning useful everyday phrases. 

7 p.m. Literature concert “Ena, dve, tri … 15” in the auditorium of the Music Middle School Kötschach-Mauthen

In the Upper Carinthian region, the language and culture of the Slovenian ethnic group are hardly present. We offer the audience of the VIA Cultural Summer an opportunity to listen to the second official language of Carinthia. 
The “Literatura Mobil” is part of the Literature Focus Year 2026 in Carinthia – a mobile living room with a library – and travels through Carinthia from May to October, making a stop with us.

The word and sound program of the literature concert with Daniela Kocmut (poetry and prose in German and Slovenian), Slovenian jazz singer Tjaša Fabjančič, and Carinthian pianist Michael Lagger is a premiere designed for this occasion.
