Basilika Maria Luggau

Welcome to the website of the parish of Maria Luggau!

Maria Luggau is considered one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in Austria. The origins of the pilgrimage date back to 1513, when the peasant woman Helena was instructed in a dream by the Virgin Mary to build a church. More about the history (click here)

Since then, thousands of pilgrims have journeyed annually to the Basilica to venerate the Mother of Sorrow.
