Gailtaler Bio Alm Ochse

Ox luck on the sun side. Since 1292, the Hanserhof has been continuously family-owned. Its current form – and the family name Zojer – has been present at nearly 1000 meters above sea level since 1873. Walter Zojer is particularly proud of the round arch above the entrance, as it signifies that "Freisassen" lived here, independent farmers not beholden to anyone. Nevertheless, Walter Zojer and his wife Gunda feel responsible for the well-being of their up to 25 four-legged residents, who enjoy their forest and meadow happiness along with mountain herbs from June to the end of September on the Plon, the communal alpine pasture. The best feed can also be found for the alpine bulls in the winter stable: hay from their own meadows. Since the year 2000, the long-certified organic Zojer farm has focused on its alpine bulls, which are allowed to grow and thrive peacefully for at least two years. The carefully aged meat of these bulls is now widely sought after and available seasonally by pre-order. For visitors and connoisseurs, the host also has fine schnapps ready, from plum, pear, and apple to hay schnapps.
