New arrivals with delicious side dishes. When Stefan and Markus Schellander took over the Gefat-Hof from their grandfather in 2010, they first rolled up their sleeves. A new roof was needed, the barn had to be renovated, and a lovely spot with a farm shop in front of the house was also on the agenda. And because the two like to think outside the box, they discovered the Japanese cattle breed Wagyu during a visit to Tyrol. Today, several of these black, elegant cattle with their finely marbled meat roam the pasture year-round, and Iberico pigs have also joined them. The brothers' motto: Instead of expanding widely, they'd rather keep exciting animal species. They offer fresh products in the farm shop as trained meat experts and also process them masterfully: into bacon and sausages, tender melting lardo and spicy salami, Frankfurters and Berner sausages, liver cheese, and pâtés, as well as ground meat and lard – all of this from both Iberico and domestic pigs. Lastly, a little insider tip: Fresh and smoked trout are also available.
