At the Straniger Alm, you will be treated to home-style cooking and the protected designation of origin Gailtal mountain cheese. In addition, Almbutter and smoked Schotten are produced from the milk of the cows here. The Alm is a popular stop for hikers on the Karnische Höhenweg (KHW 403) or the Via Alpina. Furthermore, it is an ideal starting point for numerous hikes and MTB tours, also providing a border crossing to Paularo in Italy.
The Straniger Alm can be reached from Stranig via a well-maintained gravel road (minibuses available upon request).
