Danube salmon fishing
A rarity in the river Gail
Apart from trout and grayling, the Gail is one of the few streams in Austria with a strong population of huchen. The huchen is also known as Danube salmon and can be caught in the fishing area of the Hermagor-Presseggger See Borough from the Gail Bridge in Möderndorf to the Gail Bridge in Postran. Use of spinning and fly rods (max. one wobbler) is permitted.
The bait must be at least 12 cm long. The fishing line or tapered leader must be at least 0.40 mm thick.
