Kirchbach

summer in the mountains

Soft tourism & sporting challenges. Mountains on all sides – the Carnic and Gailtal Alps. Kirchbach in the upper Gailtal Valley is a rural village with old traditions. Cheese is still hand-made in the region’s dairies, while bacon is hung and dried as it has been for many centuries. The oldest guesthouse in Carinthia, restored water mills and picturesque churches have many stories to tell.

A network of trails leads hikers from 600m up to 2300m, taking in sunny meadows and mountain huts. Walking, mountaineering, mountainbiking and exploring the R3 long-distance cycle trail along the Gail river are just some of the many activities available. The Gail river is also perfect for rafting and trekking tours, while anglers will find a wide range of fish in the clear waters. The region’s heated outdoor pool is a great place to cool off. Stöfflerberg mountain is the starting point for many paragliders and hang-gliders. Or why not work on your handicap on the 18-hole championship golf course in Waidegg?
