Gailtal Cycle Path R3

Circular ride for all the family

The "Gailtal Radweg R3" cycle path starts in Kötschach-Mauthen and follows the Gail river through Nötsch as far as Villach.

This clearly signposted cycle path passes through many small villages, taking in traditional farms and guesthouses selling homemade produce such as "Gailtaler Speck“ dried bacon and "Gailtaler Almkäse" cheese.

The path runs slightly downhill from west to east and is perfect for families with children. It connects to the "Gitschtal Radweg R3b", which leads into the Gitschtal Valley and towards the Weissensee lake.

Just in case you get a flat tyre or encounter any other technical problems with your bike while riding along the "Gailtal Radweg", there are service stations located at the following points:

  • Strandbad Hermagor,

  • Watschiger Gailbrücke,

  • Görtschacher Gailbrücke,

  • St. Stefan Gailbrücke,

  • Kirchbach Gailbrücke.

Tip! Hire an e-bike
