H002 | Colonel Gressl Memorial Trail

The racy, sometimes quite difficult "via ferrata" on the Cellonschulter requires climbing experience and good equipment. Exposed, varied and very strenuous in places, but very well secured. Climb up the striking slab wall via ramps and several traverses, steep upswings and cracks to the wooded transverse ledge. Now over another steep upswing (crux) onto a ledge that leads to the exit. From there via a climb to the Cellonschulter. Descent from the Cellonschulter via the old Kriegssteig - over Italian territory - to the Plöckenpass.
Suggestion
If you are willing and able, continue climbing over the Cellon shoulder to the start of the "Via ferrata senza confine" ("path without borders") and via this to the summit of the Cellon. From the summit via the marked normal path [path 147] on the Italian side to the Plöckenpass in 2-2.5 hours.
Equipment
Via ferrata equipment, rockfall helmet.
