Day trip to a natural jewel in the Nassfeld region

Guests cycling or walking from the Gailtal Valley towards the Italian border should definitely pay a visit to the Zollner See lake. This relic of the last Ice Age lies in the west of the Nassfeld region and is a popular destination for day trips thanks to its calm waters surrounded by moorland and the range of leisure activities available.

The gentle landscape around the lake can be easily explored on foot using the network of hiking paths catering for all fitness levels. Within just a few hours visitors can cross over the border into Italy. Near the western shore of the lake there is the Zollnerseehütte (1750 m) hut run by the Austrian Alpine Club as well as a small chapel.
