Waidegger Alm

The green paradise above the Gailtal!

The Waidegger Alm is farmed and during the summer months at an altitude of 1,780 meters in the Carnic Alps just below the border to Italy, the milk from about 20 dairy cows is processed into fresh curds, alpine butter, and the EU-protected Gailtaler Almkäse. The dairymaid also provides visitors in the rustic atmosphere with products from her own production. Flower enthusiasts admire the beautiful floral splendor on a hike to the Zollnersee. The Waidegger Alm is also located on the Carnic High Route (KHW 403) and is a starting point for tours to Findenig with monuments from World War I as well as to Waidegger Höhe, where fossils can also be found.

Open continuously from June - end of September 08:00 - 21:00

Access to the mountain road (gravel road) via the villages Stranig or Goderschach (13 km).
