in the upper Gailtal Valley
The municipality of Kirchbach and its holiday villages are located in the upper Gailtal Valley, at an altitude of 620m – 660m, in the administrative region of Hermagor in the south-west of Carinthia. It is bordered by the Carnic Alps to the south and the Gailtal Alps to the north. Before the introduction of tourism, the region’s main industry was farming. Today, ancient traditions such as cheesemaking in the mountain dairies still play an important role in everyday life.
