Batnight – Night of Bats at the Nature Park Weissensee
Explore the fascinating world of bats together with a bat expert of Arge NATURSCHUTZ and our nature park rangers. With torches and bat – detectors, which make the ultrasonic sounds of the bats audible for humans, we go on excursion. The batnight intends to call attention to the endangerment of bats and should help us to overcome fears of contacts.
Additionally, this year’s noctule bat census takes place on September 19 in cooperation with the coordination point for bat protection and research (KFFÖ)! The census takes place simultaneously throughout Austria and is intended to allow drawing conclusions regarding the population of these fascinating animals.
Dates: Thursdays, August 08 and 22, September 19, 2024 (noctule bat census)
Time: 8 – 11 p.m., on Sept. 19 from 7 to 8.30 p.m.
Meeting point: Weissensee Information, Techendorf Süd
Duration: about 2-3 hrs.
Equipment: sturdy shoes, weather-proof clothes, and drinks
Costs: € 22 for adults, € 15 for children (up to 14 years), noctule bat census free of charge!
