Fossils – Feeling very close to the ancient oceans
With our experienced nature park ranger, you follow the traces of ancient rocks proving the presence of living beings in long gone seas. Together you’ll start from Fischeralm to an instructive and exciting exploration of the streambed. The keen-eyed will find fossilized ammonites and mussel beds. Back at Fischeralm the ranger will show you how to work and refine the fossils. Take along a very special souvenir!
The nature park lake Weissensee - a geologic variety amidst the Gailtal valley Alps. The protection and maintenance of these natural treasures are an important contribution to the nature park.
Dates: Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31, August 07, 14, 21 and 28, September 04, 2024
Time: 10.30 a.m. - 2.30 p.m.
Meeting point: Fischeralm
Arrival: by e-bike or relaxed hike, resting possibilities along the way!
Duration: about 4 hrs
Equipment: mountain boots, weather-proof clothes and provisions
Costs: adults 22,- €, children € 15,- (up to 14 years)
Number of participants: at least 4, for ages 10 and older
