Family-friendly circular hike on the valley floor of the Gail Valley - around Rattendorf

The circular hike can also be very well combined with the circular hike RW_N25.

Directions

Arrival by car:

Take the B111 (Gailtal road) - coming from Kötschach-Mauthen (towards Hermagor) - drive to the village of Jenig.

Here, after the petrol station, turn right towards Rattendorf (Rattendorf state road).

Follow the road and, about 350 m after the center of Rattendorf, you will reach the parking lot (in winter the cross-country ski center is located here) on the right side.

Take the B111 (Gailtal road) - coming from Hermagor (towards Kötschach-Mauthen) - drive towards Tröpolach/Nassfeld junction (along the B90). In Tröpolach, turn right from the B90 after the fire station towards Rattendorf (Rattendorf state road).

Follow the road and shortly after the beginning of Rattendorf, you will reach the parking lot (in winter the cross-country ski center is located here) on the left side.

Ausgangs-/Endpunkt:

Ausgehend vom östlichen Ortsende von Rattendorf spazierst du rechts des Bachlaufs den Doberbach entlang. Du erreichst den südlichen Waldrand und zweigst nach rechts ab, um kurz darauf, am Waldrand, wieder nach links weiter zu gehen. An der nächsten Weggabelung biegst du nach rechts ab und folgst dem Weg, nördlich des Soldatenfriedhofs, die Felder querend, am Waldrand, entlang.

Du wanderst den Weg in östliche Richtung entlang, bis du kurz vor dem Bachlauf an der Abzweigung nach rechts abzweigst und in weiterer Folge dem Weg rechts vom Bachlauf (in nördliche Richtung) folgst. Anschließend überquerst du die Nebenstraße, sowie die L22, und gehst am Gaildamm entlang. Du gelangst zu dem Waldstück im Osten von Rattendorf - hier biegst du vor dem Wald nach rechts ab und gehst rechts vom Doberbach, die L22 querend, zurück zum Ausgangspunkt deiner Tour.
