Transition from the Zollnersee hut to the Wolayersee hut

The trail leads over the Plöckenpass, where you have the option of shortening the hike. You can spend the night in the Plöckenhaus or in the Untere Valentinalm. There is also an interesting open-air museum on the Plöckenpass that provides information about the region's dark wartime past. If you decide to do the hike in one go, you should be in good physical condition. The paths are well laid out, the orientation is never difficult and the technical demands are not very high. The tour therefore promises to be a physical adventure in scenic surroundings. In addition, excellent cheese is produced on the Obere Bischofalm and should not be missed. You pass the alpine pasture right at the start of the hike.

Equipment

Normal hiking equipment incl. sturdy mountain boots, first aid kit, weatherproof clothing. Also hut sleeping bag, cash etc. for overnight stays in huts.

Directions

From the Zollnersee Hütte (1750m) you start in a westerly direction and cross the wide meadow floor. Descend through a short section of forest and then follow the road to the Obere Bischofalm (1573m, serviced). Follow the road downhill and leave it at approx. 1540m. Continue on a hiking trail through the forest, first flat and then slightly uphill. Cross the head of the valley below the Kronhofer Törl and cross the unforested slopes on the other side of the valley up to the Köderkopf (2167m).

On the other side of the summit, descend across meadows and then cross below the Köderhöhe to the ruined Obere Tschintemuntalm (approx. 1810m). From there via the upper and lower Spielbodenalm down to the Grünsee and the Plöckenhaus (1244m, serviced) on the road to the Plöckenpass.

On the other side of the pass road, follow the path over the Theresienhöhe to the Untere Valentinalm (1205m, staffed). From the Valentinalm, follow the forest road into the valley towards the Oberer Valentinalm. Some of the hairpin bends on the road are shortened via footpaths and you also follow the footpath for the last stretch to the alpine pasture.

From the Alm (1540m), hike into the cirque and follow the stony path to Valentintörl (2138m). On the other side of the saddle, you descend to the lake and the Wolayerseehütte (1960m).
